Christopher Jaymes Hansen was killed on February 2nd 2006 - His 27th Birthday!!
My Son Christopher was killed at Jennie-O-Turkey Store
in Melrose, Minnesota
Christopher was standing on a piece of equipment that was meant to lift barrels and dump them in to a hopper. He had stopped to help empty the hopper and when he was finished, as he tried to lower the lift he was standing on, he was crushed.
According to the OSHA report, the switch on the lift was
broken, and had been for some time. No one has ever told me if he knew that this switch was broken. The lift should have stopped as soon as Christopher let go of the switch but because it didn't work that was it was designed to - it kept moving and his chest was crushed. He died a short time later.
I don't understand work comp. laws at all - Jennie-O-Turkey Store is protected
by the law?? --- What about my son and his grieving family!! Who protects us.

I’ll lend you for a little time
A child of Mine, He said.
For you to love the while he lives,
And mourn for when he’s dead.
It may be six or seven years
Or twenty-two or three,
But will you, till I call him back
Take care of him for Me?
He’ll bring his charms to gladden you,
And should his stay be brief,
You’ll have his lovely memories
As solace for your grief.
I cannot promise he will stay,
Since all from Earth return,
But there are lessons taught down there
I want this child to learn.
I’ve looked this wide world over
In search for teachers true,
And from the throngs that crowd life’s lanes,
I have selected you.
Now will you give him all your love,
Nor think the labour vain,
Nor hate Me when I come to call
And take him back again?
I fancied that I heard you say
Dear Lord, Thy will be done,
For all the joy Thy child shall bring,
For the risk of grief we’ll run.
We’ll shelter him with tenderness,
We’ll love him while we may,
And for the happiness we’ve known,
Forever grateful stay.
But should the angels call for him
Much sooner then we planned,
We’ll brave the bitter grief that comes
And try to understand.
