Agency: USMWF’s mission is to offer support, guidance and resources to those affected by work related injuries, illnesses and diseases.
USMWF will hire, train and supervise a team of safety advocates, across the United States. The aim of this will be to research fallen workers due to work related incidents, illnesses or diseases, find their next of kin and connect with them offering support, guidance and resources after the unexpected, tragic loss.
Qualifications:
Accuracy is very important to USMWF Org. Inc. therefore we will complete training to any independent contract worker on researching fatalities and entering the information into our multiple databases. We are always here to answer questions and ask that you please contact us if you have any questions as it is very important that this information is entered in correctly and is accurate.
Additional Information:
This is a temporary, hourly paid work position and is currently established for less than 6 months (based on funding received by USMWF) and is not eligible for benefits.

- Communication skills;
- Microsoft Office 365;
- Computer skills;
- High school diploma or GED;
- Pass drug screening;
- Criminal background check;
- Research;
- Data Entry (Flipcause and USMWF Database);
- Create and Mail Letters/Correspondence to USMWF Family Member Victims;
- Plan and Assist in hosting Workers Memorial Day Events/Ceremonies;
- Maintain and update website (via template) and multiple Social Media Accounts;
- Communicate with USMWF Family Members via email, phone, messenger etc;
- Deposit any donations received through the Three Point Contact Procedures implemented by USMWF Board Members;
- Communicate and working with other Safety Organizations/Individuals;
- Fatality Report in pdf format will be given to you with the names of fatally injured workers. An excel document created by USMWF Org. Inc. will be shared with you to which the independent contractor will import his/her researched information into.
- Researching and finding victims full name, ethnicity, fallen worker’s home address at time of incident, date of birth, date of death, location of fatality, company he/she worked for and its location, next-of-kin’s name and current address, cause of fatality, industry, occupation, if he/she was a temp worker, day labor, or worked in the public sector, independent worker, detail of injuries and location of incident, etc. We ask that you include if found a link to fallen worker’s obituary and link to article regarding said incident. If information was not able to be located, we ask that you please put “no information located as of (date)”
- Verify fallen workers’ names have not been previously entered into USMWF’s Fallen Workers’ Database. If his/her name is currently in the database then verify all information is correctly imported into the database. Make any needed updates and/or changes to database. Access information will be granted to Independent Contractor.
- Verify family member victims have not been previously entered into Database. If next-of-kin information is in database then verify all information is updated, correct and we ask that you make any additions and/or changes to their information. Access information will be granted to Independent Contractor.
- Accurately import all new found researched information into the multiple databases;
- Create and Mail Sympathy Letters to USMWF Family Member Victims found through research;
- Research, copy and paste work safety articles on multiple social media outlets;
- Update/Maintain Website (via template);
- Assist in hosting Local and National Workers Memorial Day Ceremony and Events;
- Communicate with USMWF Family Member Victims;
- Representing USMWF at conferences/meetings (via in person or virtually);
- Represent USMWF and work with OSHA through our Alliance;
- Represent USMWF and work with OSHA through NACOSH Committee (only through July 2023 unless voted and accept said position);
- Communicate with other USMWF Employees to successfully continue USMWF's mission and goals;
- Flexibility of Job duties as they may develop and change per the growth of USMWF.
- High School Diploma;
- Must have proficient computer and phone skills including proficient use of Microsoft office 365 applications;
- Ability to exhibit a professional, positive attitude and work ethic;
- Excellent interpersonal skills required and ability to interact professionally with culturally diverse individuals during a time of crisis and distress;
- Ability to show empathy to distressed individuals;
- Excellent organizational and communication skills;
- Ability to speak, read, and write English;
- Second or multiple languages a plus;
- Critical thinking and sound judgment required;
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism;
- Bilingual - fluent to read, write, and speak in Spanish;
