VERMONT'S FALLEN WORKERS
Jeremy Spaulding, 30
Jeremy was fatally injured while working for Casella Waste Management, Inc. in Addison, Vermont. He died after a u-bolt broke off of the loaded dumpster causing it to slide down the truck bed trapping Mr. Spaulding between two dumpsters.
Vermont OSHA Office investigated the incident and proposed a penalty of $40,959 for two serious violations. In an informal settlement the penalty was reduced to $16,383. Inspection: 1546908.015 - Casella Waste Management, Inc. I would like my brother to be remembered as a humble man who loved his family dearly. His friends would say he was their family too. He was easily loved and cherished by all that knew him. We miss him fervently. It is truly a tragedy no family should have to go through. I do not believe accident is an angry enough word for a workplace loss, I believe traumatic tragedy is appropriate for this type of loss. I hope Jeremy knows how much we love him and miss him everyday. Jeremy will always be my little brother and I have dedicated the rest of my life working to make sure tragedies like this do not happen again. -Heather Spaulding-Gale |
